By default, files and folders are sorted alphanumerically.
However, there is an option to sort documents descending by date. When uploading a document, simply populate the date field with a corresponding date and that field will take precedence over the filename when sorting.
For example, you may want minutes documents to be sorted descending by date so that users see the most recent minutes at the top of the table of contents. Without populating the date field, your documents will sort like this:
Or they might look like this:
- December 02, 2018
- January 05, 2018
- March 03, 2018
Depending on how the files are named - populating the date field will correct this and have them sort in the proper descending order.
If the filename of the document contains the date in a certain format, we will automatically detect the date and populate the date field for you when uploading. Our application recognizes the following date patterns using a space, minus sign, period, and underscore as the separator:
- Month DD, YYYY
- Month DD YYYY
If those patterns are detected anywhere in the filename, our application will recognize them and populate the date field automatically.
